I started golf in 1979 at age 12 by caddying for my Dad, but to be honest for the first 6 months I only went along fr the Peach Melba desert.
Within a couple of years I knew Golf was my destiny. My development as a player was really stilted by my desire to be the best player in the World! I know this is a strange thing to say, but you see I believed the way to be the best player in the World was to work harder than everyone else and to develop the perfect golf swing! Now I know this is a futile journey and at least one I believe, will benefit very few if any. Yes you have to work hard but more importantly smart!
After turning professional at age 18 I began my coaching career in 1988 at age 21. The lessons I had learnt as a player served me well in developing a unique coaching style. From the beginning of my coaching career knowing that a technically good golf swing but driven by a monkey mind would still hit bad shots, encouraged me to incorporate psychology into my coaching to help balance golfers.
Over the last 20 plus years I have attended over 70 Seminars and read over 100 books in the fields of Golf, Psychology, Personal Development, Nutrition, Coaching, Bio Mechanics, Laws of the Universe, Philosophy and Business.
This acquired knowledge, along with my own experiences and intuition, is what has helped me to develop a unique model of Holistic Coaching.
At age 24, I began working with European Tour Professionals with Phillip Price being one of my early clients in 1994 and even today I am still working with Phillip from time to time. Certainly one of my early coaching highlights was working at the 1997 Ryder Cup whilst coaching Per-Ulrik Johansson.
My international speaking career began in 1999 when I addressed the Coaches of the PGA of Sweden. Since then I have been a keynote speaker for the PGA’s of Denmark, Switzerland, Holland and Britain as well as twice being on the panel of keynote speakers at the European Teaching and Coaching Conference, when in 2003 I was speaking to an audience of 1000!
My TV Career began in 1998 where I enjoyed 9 years as a regular coaching pundit on Sky TV for Golf Extra, The World of Golf and Golf Night shows. In 2007 I was asked to become the ‘Face of Coaching’ for Setanta Sports; this is a very exciting stage of my career helping to develop new shows.
To date I have written over 50 magazine articles for leading publications and have been involved with 2 books. I am currently planning a DVD and Book demonstrating the key points of my coaching which I intend to release during 2008.
It is my core belief that there is a better golfer inside of everyone, and my role as a coach is to help them fnd their own answers thus drawing out their potentiality and leaving them empowered.
