Whenever you hit a great shot on the range look at the flight a little longer, pay attention to the sound of the strike and relive the feeling of the swing. Really intensify the emotions of this great shot and when they are really high increase your grip pressure. Continue to repeat this drill every time you hit the shot exactly as you would like it to be, the brain will start to make a neural connection to squeezing the grip and the great shot, we call this an ‘anchor’
Once you have made this ‘anchor’ several times you can then introduce it into your pre shot routine. This will benefit you by getting you into a peak state before each shot.
Pre-shot routine - remember to squeeze the grip and then relax into your normal grip pressure just before making your swing. we only use the anchor of squeezing the grip to your great shots, if the shot is not quite how you wanted it to be don’t squeeze the grip.
By continually practicing this you are strength ending the anchor and your chances of playing each shot from a peak performance state.
